Privacy Notice

Any personal data you provide to or is collected by Unilever is controlled by Unilever UK the data controller. This Privacy Notice applies to personal data collected by Unilever in connection with the Youth Development Initiatives we offer.

For your reference, here you can see a list of the personal data we may process in connection with the Youth Development Initiative you participate in:

• Your full name
• Your email address
• Your date of birth
• Your gender

We will use your personal data information so we can identify you and provide you with support when you take part in our Youth Development programme. We will also record your participation to inform us how many young people have taken part in and completed one of our Youth Development Initiatives so that we can see how we are progressing against our target of equipping 10m young people with essential skills to prepare them for job opportunities by 2030. ​

Lawfulness of data processing

Unilever processes your personal data lawfully. Legal grounds on which we may base our processing activities depending on jurisdiction may include:

• Consent - Processing may be lawful because you consented to it on a voluntary basis. If you are under 16 years old we may need to ask for your parent or guardian to consent on your behalf. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting Future.CareersUKI@unilever.com
• Legitimate Interests - Processing is necessary for pursuing our legitimate interests in helping you and other young people in developing essential skills where we have taken into account your own interests and rights and the protection of your personal data
• Legal obligation - The processing is necessary for us to comply with our legal obligations (not including contractual obligations).

Innovative Technologies

We use technology to capture information when you access our online youth development initiatives.

We will keep your personal data for as long as we need it for the purpose it is being processed for as outlined above. For the reporting we retain the identifiable data we collect until 2036, after which we employ measures to permanently delete it.​

Unilever shares personal data within the Unilever Group or with third-parties for purposes described in this Privacy Notice. We will not use or share your personal data for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

Unilever will only send personal data collected within the European Economic Area (EEA) to foreign countries in circumstances such as:

• To follow your instructions;
• To comply with a legal duty; or
• To work with our agents and advisers who we use to help run our business and services.

If we do transfer personal data abroad, Unilever will make sure that the personal data is protected with a similar level of protection as required by law in its country of origin. If we do transfer personal data to outside of the EEA, Unilever will make sure that it is protected in the same way as if it was being used in the EEA. We’ll use one of the following safeguards:

• Transfer to a non-EEA country whose privacy legislation ensures an adequate level of protection of personal data to the EEA country;
• Put in place a contract with the third-party that means they must protect personal data to the same standards as the EEA; or
• Transfer personal data to organisations that are part of specific agreements on cross-border data transfers with the EEA; or
• Transfer personal data to organisations that have adopted other appropriate safeguards, such as e.g. binding corporate rules, an approved code of conduct or an approved certification mechanism.

We may share your personal data with competent public authorities, government or regulatory bodies, if necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

Unilever takes the security of your personal data very seriously. We take every effort to protect your personal data from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Our measures include implementing appropriate access controls, investing in the latest Information Security Capabilities to protect the IT environments we leverage, and ensuring we encrypt, pseudonymise and anonymise personal data wherever possible.

Access to your personal data is only permitted among our employees and agents on a need-to-know basis and subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations when processed by third-parties.

Where we process your personal data, you have a number of rights over how the data is processed and can exercise these rights at any point. We have provided an overview of these rights below:

• right to be informed
• right to data portability;
• right to access;
• right to be forgotten (erasure);
• right to correction,
• right to restriction of processing;
• right to be informed;
• right to object;
• right to withdraw consent;
• right to not be subject to automated decision-making;
